JK Swire Annual Dinner & Lecture, Concorde

It is that time of the year for our most prestigious event and we were pleased to welcome Captain Mile Bannister, former British Airways Chief Pilot for Concorde.  The name Concorde is an icon, and we later learned this aircraft made 19 trips to Hong Kong.

The event was a sellout and made possible by the kind donations from our sponsors Airbus, CASL, Cathay Pacific AIrways, GE Aerospace, HAECO, HAESL & Rolls Royce.

Nearly 120 guests and members at the New World Millennium Hotel listened to Mike talk about his life in with Concorde and the men and women who worked alongside him to bring this aircraft into serice, its heyday and the unfortunate accident.  Then its re-introduction to service before announcing its retirement and last flight in October 2003.

It was moving story of technology, Britain and France working together which was the pre cursor to Airbus. It was a marvelous instantly recognisable machine, which outran Britiain’s RAF supersonic fighter jets.
